DBC Launch Level 3 Data Technician Apprenticeship
Every organisation, big or small, now operates in a data-rich environment. From tracking customer behaviour to measuring performance and spotting trends, data informs how decisions are made, how strategies are shaped, and how teams deliver value. Businesses no longer guess at what might work, they use evidence to decide what does work.
In marketing, data reveals how customers behave, what campaigns drive engagement and where budgets deliver the strongest return. In finance, it supports forecasting, risk management and long-term planning. Operations teams use it to improve efficiency, monitor performance and reduce waste. Even HR departments rely on data to track workforce trends, retention and development needs.
Put simply, businesses use data to answer three critical questions:
What is happening? (Reporting and performance tracking)
Why is it happening? (Analysis and insight)
What should we do next? (Informed decision-making)
Data literacy is quickly becoming a core skill, much like digital literacy did a decade ago. Employers are no longer only looking for just specialists; they want teams who are comfortable interpreting information, spotting trends and contributing to evidence-based decisions.
The launch of the Level 3 Data Technician Apprenticeship reflects this evolution in the workplace. The programme is designed to develop practical, job-ready skills that businesses genuinely need, from collecting and validating data to analysing it and presenting findings in a meaningful way.
Our Head of Sales, Cath Albans (Pictured Below), explains why we’ve launched the new programme:

“We introduced the Level 3 Data Technician Apprenticeship in direct response to employer needs. The feedback is that organisations need skilled people who can confidently source, validate, manage, analyse and interpret data in a way that supports real decision-making and drives efficiency. This programme has been designed to develop exactly those practical, workplace-ready skills that organisations are actively looking for as the foundation for data-driven improvement.”
The primary purpose of this programme is to securely source, structure, and present data in a meaningful way to support analysis and informed decision-making. The role involves applying fundamental analytical techniques, integrating data from multiple sources, and communicating insights clearly to stakeholders at varying levels of the organisation.
